Louisville & Bullitt County Real Estate

I almost wrecked when I saw this

I was driving from Shepherdsville to Mt Washington this morning when I topped a hill and saw this.  While doing a double-take, I almost didn't notice the car in front of me stopping short.  (Apparently, he was so excited that he needed to pull over immediately).  I still had more than 1/2 tank on my way back, but I stopped anyway.

  • Gas: $11.86
  • Lunch at White Castle: $11.96

Gas in Mt Washington

Ah yes, the drop in gas prices. One more reason I'm now a happy man. The hell with my beautiful wife and my successful career, I can now fill up my tank for less than $50.

That will make your day.  White Castle?  Lucky!

Darn it, mine here is half a buck more per gallon:-) Still great to see prices under two bucks!!!
Definition of optimism - being able to drive again...  Thanks for sharing, Erik.

JL - The benefit of filling up for under $50 is that I don't have to get another successful career or sell my wife!

Melody - Lucky is an interesting choice of expressions.  Wouldn't have been my first pick, but to each his (her) own.

Inna- Not to rain on you parade, but I think this is a temporary thing.  Once we cross back above the $2.00 mark (or $3.00 for that matter), we'll be there to stay.

Money that is not spent in gas can be saved or spent on something else.  Just what the doctor ordered to help the economy.

It's a beautiful thing isn't it!  We're just under $2 here in Central Oregon and glad to have it.

Posted by Terri Visser,CRS - Selling Central Oregon Real Estate (Desert Sky Real Estate, LLC) about 1 year ago

Wow! We are still just around $1.90 here and not complaining.

HRG - At this time of the year, it frees up funds for an extra gift or two.

Terri - I believe that it will be relatively short-lived, but I'll take it for the next several months.

Silvia - Isn't it amazing how quickly we are conditioned?  I was happy when it dipped back under $3.00.  Not long ago, that was agonizingly high.

WOW Erik!!! I never thought that I'd see gas prices this low again , EVER...

That's an amazing price! I would have been a large sum prices wouldn't have dropped below $2.00. It's good to be wrong. Where's the media on this piece of good news?!?

OMG - you're right. Where is the media???

Michael -  Oddly, if we hadn't topped $4.00, we might not be back here today.  The $4.00 mak really motivated people to change their driving habits.

Tre - I certainly wouldn't have bet against you.

C - They are off discussing the multiple ways that we can sink further into recession if Detroit fails.

Beth - Heck, I drove around checking out neighborhoods just for the heck of it yesterday.

Cherimie - I'm glad I got you off to a good start.

I consider ti lucky because we don't have one in Texas.  Granted, I couldn't/shouldn't eat them often but at least you have the option.

Posted by Melody Botting Real Estate Network about 1 year ago

I've heard these dropping prices are a sign of something not so good on the horizon, but for now I am welcoming the low gas prices! For most people, especially agents, gas is something we use a lot of. To see those numbers go down each time I pass them sure brings a smile to my face. :)

How much did you eat at the Castle?  We used to get 10 little burgers for a dollar there..............and yes that was way back when!

Posted by Kathleen Lordbock Keller Williams Realty Brainerd Lakes ( KW REALTOR/Staging & Short Sale Specialist) about 1 year ago

WOW... $1.55    I heard the myth but have not seen it for myself.  The closest we have is $1.70   Can you believe this is HALF of what we were paying a little over a month ago??? Unbelievable.

Mel - Yeah, I knew what you meant.  I go there every once I awhile to remind myself why there is such a long interval in between times that I eat there.  Do you at least have a Krystal?

Nicole - When it comes to the price of gas, focusing on the now is definitely the only way to go.

Kathleen - Lol.  Despite my comment to Mel, the answer is still -- too often.  That $11.96 was for 11 burgers and some cheese fries.  Who says we are in a deflationary economy?

John - I paid $4.19 once.  So, this was only 37% of the that.

Holy Moly Batman!  Im sure we were over $4.00 in some places, but I never spent over $3.99  :-)   ( look, Im actually happy about that... when I started driving gas was under $1 )

Wow thats pretty amazing isn't it after all this time?  My daughter works at a Shell station - and she says people prepay and then find that their tank is overflowing before they reach their purchased gas!  We're not used to what the 'new' cost of a tank of gas is! :-)

Hey Erik,

We are at $1.65 for regular in my part of the country but i am not complaining. It is almos now a joy to pull up to the gas station, fill up, give the guy a $20 and get change.  I see you like the White Castle Burgers...OH YEAH.  I don't really want to day myself, by I remember when we paid $0.09 each for a which castle burger....those were the good ole days.

Have a great day

Erik, holy crap what a difference a few months make, lets hope this doesn't lull car makers into a false sense of security and abandon the economy lines now.
