I was at a hardware store today and saw someone walking out with a FSBO sign. As, I was shopping, I started wondering how many FSBOs were actually in the area.
For reference, 605 single-family homes are currently listed as Active on the MLS. Since, there are so many different methods of FSBO, I decided to do an informal survey by driving through neighborhoods to see the ratio of Realtor signs to FSBO signs. I picked 10 neighborhoods that covered price points varying from 95,000 - 300,000.
Results:
Agent Signs: 32
FSBO Signs: 3, 2 with online advertsing, 1 with just a basic sign.
Discount Agency Signs: 1
Once I got home, I checked a couple of the bigger FSBO sites and found a total of 35 FSOs online. This seems to correlate with my drive-by findings.
Discount Brokerage Results
Since I was already this far into it, I checked the website for the discount broker that I saw.
