In case you are not aware (and judging from the parking lot this evening, you aren't) Lowes has openedin Shepherdsville. The new location is on the Adam Shephard bypass. I, for one, am particularly excited as getting to this new location requires driving about 5 miles less and avoiding at least 10 less redlights on Preston Highway.
In general, the new location is setup the same as almost any other Lowes. However, the tool department is more streamlined. Also, I noticed a virtual color system in the paint department. This allows you to select a room and then see what it would look as you vary the shades of paint. Of course, it will look different on your walls, but it was still a nice tool to play with.
If you need building, remodeling or gardening materials, make sure that you check out the flyers right inside the front door. They are offering 10% off this week. Note that the coupon is only good for the Shepherdsville store.
On a side note, the employees were very friendly. No less than 8 people asked me if I needed assistance.
If Lowes doesn't carry what you need, don't forget about Stout's Ace Hardware across from Paroquet Springs or 84 Lumber on Preston.

Actually, there is so much to do and see in Bernheim Forest that one day isn't sufficient. You could spend weeks enjoying the scenary, cycling, hiking, fishing, picnicing, and learning. At $5 per car on the weekends it is a great place to take your family and spend quality time together. (It is FREE during the week).
When is the last time that your children got to see deer, rabbits, geese, and hundreds of other animals in the wild. For that matter, when was the last time YOU saw animals in the wild. If you are looking for a little less rigorous activity, throw a line in at Nevin Lake and see what you can reel in.
Just want to sit and relax? No problem. There are benches located throughout where you can watch children play, enjoy nature, or simply lose yourself in your own thoughts. The picnic areas (with grills) spread around the park offer a great place for family reunions, cookouts with friends, or even Sunday afternoon lunch. Regardless of who are are with, you will be able to sit and enjoy fellowship without the distractions of everyday life.

The following Bullitt County Market Report compares key real estate statistics for the first 6 months of 2008 to those of the same period in 2007. The data covers all sales that were recorded in the Greater Louisville Area Realtors MLS.
Nice Chart. What does it mean?
Truthfully, it doesn’t mean much.So few properties are included, any unique sale can greatly affect the averages. For instance, 1 property sold for $349,000.This sale more than accounts for the difference in the Average Sales Price. The best takeaways are the Sales and Inventory remain consistent.
Buyers: In keeping with the trends seen in Bullitt County, now is a great time to buy if you are able. Inventory throughout the county is high and average sales price is slightly below where it was last year. When selection and price are good, it is time to act.
Sellers: Again, county-wide indicators suggest keeping your house off of the market unless you have to sell or our upgrading. If you do need to sell, price it accordingly and make sure that it is show condition.

General Electric (GE) has announced its intent to spin-off all of its Consumer and Industrial business. This news comes a little less than 2 months after the original announcement that the Louisville-based Appliances division would be split off and sold. In a statement released to the AP, CEO Jeff Immelt says, "As we explored our options for appliances, it became clear that the fastest, most efficient step we could take in completing the transformation of our industrial portfolio would be to focus on a possible spin-off of the entire unit."
Overall, this is good news for the Louisville Metro areaand great news for the thousands of people who work at Appliance Park. Much of the uncertainty regarding the future is now resolved. Chris Poynter, speaking on behalf of Mayor Jerry Abramson, reinforced this sentiment in his comment to the Courier-Journal. "This is the best possible news for our city. We will now work hard to keep this new company as a Fortune 250 company in our hometown."
The separation provides the opportunity for both companies to 'win big.' In disposing of the 100+ year-old Lighting, Appliance, and Industrial businesses, GE will divest itself of some of its most recognizable products to focus on high-growth global products. This has long been the stated objective of Mr. Immelt. The new company will be given the opportunity to control its own destiny in markets where it has proven itself to be successful as well as to seek out new areas in which to compete.
